English Curriculum

Our English curriculum aligns with the Education Bureau’s curriculum framework and curriculum goals.

In Key Stage 1 (P.1–P.3), we use the Primary Literacy Programme – Reading and Writing (PLP-R/W) as the foundation.  Students attend weekly PLP-R/W lessons, learning phonics and text types through songs, stories, games, role-plays, and hands-on projects (e.g., cooking, design, arts & crafts). These activities significantly enhance their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

In Key Stage 2 (P.4–P.6), we adopt the Developing Text Sets (DTS) Programme. DTS builds real-world literacy through themed collections of print and digital texts at varied reading levels. Students develop skills through guided inquiry, e-learning, self-directed projects, and presentations, fully supporting Reading Across the Curriculum (RaC), e-learning, and authentic assessment.

We deploy a school-based writing curriculum in P.3–P.6 that uses process writing, incorporates word banks and target structures, and promotes assessment literacy through regular self and peer-assessment. Tailored to students’ individual needs, it supports smooth progression from guided to independent writing.

In P.4–P.6, we integrate an AI-powered platform to promote self-directed learning in writing and speaking. Students receive instant, personalised feedback on grammar, vocabulary and organisation in writing, as well as on pronunciation, fluency and accuracy in speaking. In P.5–P.6, the speaking module focuses on secondary school interview preparation with simulated interviews, model answers and key strategies, while writing practice supports extended and creative composition.

Activities

We create an immersive English environment through:

- interactions with English Ambassadors

- themed activities on English Days

- watching and creating student-produced videos

- daily interactions with native English teachers during recess activities

Beyond the classroom, students also apply English in real-world contexts via competitions, performances, summer English camps, overseas study tours, and community projects.
